Artist's Comments

I was going to call this "I hate my guts" but it sounded too emo...not that this title is much better.

I came up with this a couple weeks ago while sitting in the emergency room in one of those horrible cotton gowns waiting to have my insides x-rayed. I'm fed up with feeling sick. I'm not going to talk about what's wrong. I find it easier to deal with bad situations when you can find something good in it. In this case, I really love this image.

I usually look at the image first, and then read the artist comments below. And honestly, by just looking at it and not reading what you wrote, those curves and shapes gave me the feeling of sickness. It made me think about the taste of rust, and ultimately, gave me a feeling of sickness.
Of course I won't ask you what's wrong, it's of personal matter, but i hate to hear about people having problems and feeling sick.
But people usually tend to retreat themselves in artistic fields when they have some certain problems (not pnly photography but also poetry, painting, sketching, singing, playing instruments etc). In your case, it inspired you to transmit in a perfect way a feeling of disgust and sickness.
I love the contrast, and i love the colors, and i love your work as i told you before. The yellow ribbon thing tho, it killed me :D
Congratulations for this very good artwork and i can't wait to see more from you. You rarely post works, and that makes me believe that you only post something, when what you did truelly has a meaning and when you managed to reflect in a very good way what you felt at that time.
congrats ! and get better ASAP. i wish you all the best in the world :)

Interesting you should think of rust. :plotting: I wonder what that could mean :aww: I'm happy to hear that the issue at hand translated visually, that's always an important element to me.

I feel the same way, especially when its a little kid who is sick. :( As interesting as I find reading about and becoming educated on various ailments people have I just don't want to talk about this. It's not life-threatening or anything but I'm just getting tired and annoyed with it. I keep thinking it could be worse so I don't want to complain!

I've heard the same thing and I've even looked up work done by famous and amateur artists alike. For the longest time I wasn't interested in creating something based on an illness. I thought that making art of any form based on sickness was almost glorifying the disease, not in the sense that would make it seem good but in a way that seemed to give it a small victory. I still kinda feel that way. Honestly it makes me feel a tad uncomfortable.

Thanks very much for noticing and paying attention to that (submitting infrequently). Means a lot to me
A while ago I started studying art more in depth, mainly because I wanted to leave better comments on other people's stuff (which I never really got any better at) although, I did find out all the characteristics and criteria of 'art'. One thing that really helped me step my portfolio up was the chapter in my text book about "conveying a message". I used to submit things all the time (most of these images have since been deleted) but stopped after reading about that. I could take photos of interesting things with good lighting, balanced composition, proper exposure....etc, they were pleasing images but they weren't saying anything. I think its important to be able to produce a 'technically correct' photograph so I'm not ashamed of my earlier work...but it wasn't until I clued into 'talking' with images that I really found my own style. Now I don't submit very much, but the things I do submit are more focused and researched. (to me anyways)

I'm excited for you and your new camera, its going to be really neat to see what you capture and to watch you develop your own style. I'm looking forward to it :ahoy:
Thanks for the comment

Remember, you gave me a website once, where i could read something about photography. i did, it was an interesting article on it and it did help me understand certain stuff.
It's my pleasure commenting upon your work because you always carefully hide something in your images.
I also want to thank you for adding me to your friends list. Im glad i know you.

Great job and i can't wait to see more :) meanwhile, while i still have my actual not-good cam, i`ll use this one. I took a couple of pictures and i`ll post them up one of these days. :)

Take care and i wish you happy happy holidays !

Definitely does the business  The right-hand panel resembles a skeletal figure writhing in agony in a hospital bed, attended by a drip or stick-doctor, the background blurring through the delirium of pain...

:giggle: I love that site, you can learn about ANYTHING on it! It has some great photography articles, I'm happy it was helpful to you!

:highfive: watchaaas I CAN SEE YOU :paranoid: lol (K, less sugar for me)

You can learn basics on any camera, doesn't matter for quality when you're just learning. When you start on something with minimal features you'll appreciate better gear more when it comes along :ahoy:

You take care too, have safe and happy holidays!
